For the adore of NFL Football Helmets

February 5th, 2010 by kareem224

Football fans want to wear the helmet of the teams they root for - true? For the most fraction yes; they will wear the helmet of the team or teams they root for. But there are a pleasant number of fans who wear the NFL football helmets of teams they do not necessarily root for. Heck, there are a advantageous number of non-football fans who will wear NFL football helmets for the sake of fashion.

It may all sound superficial but let us be impartial with ourselves. Do you remember rooting for a team not because they were genuine but because they had the coolest looking uniforms? Ladies, do you remember screaming your lungs out to cheer the star quarterback not because he has skills but because he looks hot? The same thing goes for football helmets; if the invent looks superb, no matter how mighty the team sucks, people peaceful gravitate towards the team’s helmets. Of course, it would not injure if the team ruled over tidy Bowl. mild, a qualified produce is a reliable create and it will appeal to people from all walks of life - NFL fan or not.

Fans can decide between authentic and replica helmets. Authentic helmets are, as the name suggests, the same helmets aged by professional players. The face masks are made of steel and the thickness of the padding conforms to league standards. In dissimilarity, the face masks of replica helmets are made of plastic and the padding is made of Styrofoam.

There are a several major manufactures of NFL football helmets. The leading manufacturers of professional football helmets include Bike and Schutt.

Football is probably the only game that looks more painful than professional wrestling. Ironically professional football players were not required to wear protective helmets until the 1930s. Compared to the helmets of today, the early prototypes did not provide considerable protection.

The early football helmets were made of leather. Eventually the leather helmets were replaced with harness style helmets. Head related injuries prompted sports scientists and helmet manufacturers to improve the helmets further and the result is the NFL football helmets players proudly wear today.

The designs of the helmets do more than originate a fashion statement; any execute or logo change mirrors the growth and evolution of the teams. In the spirit of change, the NFL made it mandatory for all teams to have alternate or throwback uniforms. These uniforms should have designs different from their considerable team logo and designs.

Football - The Oakland Raiders

February 4th, 2010 by kareem224

Al Davis has owned the Raiders since 1972. Originally founded in Oakland, the team played there until Davis moved them to Los Angeles in 1982. Later, the team moved support to Oakland in 1995 and remains there to this day.

The football team has had the colors of silver and dismal since Davis was general manager of the team in 1963. He outmoded these colors originally because all TV’s were available in shadowy and white only and these colors showed up better than others.

John inflame became the head coach of the Raiders in 1969. He later guided the team to its first ever orderly Bowl earn in 1976. enrage stayed on as coach of the football team until 1979 when he left the team and the league, to go into TV broadcasting.

In 1982, Davis moved the team to Los Angeles, due in fraction to the refusal of the city of Oakland to remodel the football stadium. In their first year in Los Angeles, the team went to the shipshape Bowl and won. That has been the last time the Raiders have won a neat Bowl. In 1995, the team moved benefit to the city of Oakland.

The fans of the Oakland Raiders are some of the rowdiest fans in all of professional football. They advance early for tailgate parties dressed in silver and dismal paint, masks and costumes. One of the more rowdy spots in the stadium is known as the “shaded hole”. This portion of the stadium is definitely not for the feint of heart.

Hall of Fame

The Oakland Raiders have 18 unusual members in the pro football Hall of Fame. They include: Marcus Allen Fred Biletnikoff George Blanda Bob Brown Willie Brown Dave Casper Al Davis Eric Dickerson Mike Haynes Ted Hendricks James Lofton Howie Long Ronnie Lott John arouse Ron Mix Jim Otto Art Shell Gene Upshaw

There have been many other valuable players on the Raiders over the years including: Ray Guy Lyle Alzado Cliff Branch Bo Jackson Carl Weathers (later played Apollo Creed in “Rocky” movies) Jack Tatum Jerry Rice

The Raiders have been known as a franchise that has had more than its allotment of poor football drafts over the years. This, combined with the constant head coaching changes by Al Davis, has made winning sometimes difficult over the years. One of the more memorable draft day mistakes was the selection of vexed QB Todd Marinovich.

The Oakland Raiders have some of the storied rivalries among any NFL football team, with the fiercest being San Diego, Denver and Kansas City. Even when the Raiders are not as competitive, teams do not like playing them. That is one reason why the team will always remain as one of the more approved ones in the league.

…the ball was dropped on this film. Someone in Hollywood believed Brendon Fraiser and Jet Li in the same film would miraculously make this a winner. That someone should lose his job.

Synopsis: Ancient Chinese warlord is reawakened (along with 10,000 Terra Cotta warriors) to conquer the world. And there are Yetis….

The first two movies in the series were fantastically entertaining. You had action, emotion, love, despair, and discoveries of a linked past that made the movies engrossing. They had excellent scripts, beautiful effects, and acting that made it look real. I watch them over and over. This dog…well, at least I watched until the end.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor! Click Here

Whoever cast this movie screwed the pooch. Fraser, as Rick O’Connell is, of course, excellent. I love the gung ho balls ahead character. He IS the character. In fact, he is the franchise.

Rachael Weisz declined to return citing problems with the script. Boy did she make the right call. So Maria Bello is cast as Evy. Dear God In Heaven. what where they thinking! Where Weisz played Evuy with emotion, perfect timing, and a boatload of sex appeal, Bello is a block of freaking wood who phones in her part. She has NO fluidity, no sense of timing, and not a trace of sex appeal. In fact, a block of wood could have done a much better job.

In the 2nd film, The Mummy Returns, the son, Alex, has a very strong `proper’ English accent and typical `Brit’ attitude. In this movie, Alex (Luke Ford) has NO trace of accent or his English upbringing. He plays the role like a young John Wayne, as if he was raised in Arizona. It totally fails.

Jet Li as Emperor Han…well, I loved him in Lethal Weapon 4, Unleashed, and The One. He should have done the role of Emperor Han with the same soft-sneering attitude he had in LW4. But he wasn’t directed that way in this film. He was concrete, and wooden. There was no sense of surprise upon awakening 2000 years later. No marveling at the changes in the world. No wonder at how the world had changed. Totally unrealistic.

Redeeming factors: Michelle Yeoh (very big star in China) as Zi Yaun, the witch who betrays Han knowing his merciless character, Isabella Leong as her immortal daughter, and Russell Wong as General Ming Guo (Han’s right hand man who falls in love with Zi Yaun). John Hannah plays Evy’s gold-digging brother seamlessly from the prior films.

And there are the Yetis. Ya gotta love the Computer Graphics. At first, the Yetis were fluff, but then you start to like them. They are the `untarnished good’ surrounded by evil.

The special effects are admirable. The battle scenes at the end are exceptional. The warriors (and Han) turning to sand and clay are so cool, myself and my friends all gave it a big `WHOA!’.

Rent it, just to see it. Own it, ONLY if you need to complete the series.

Hope this helps you decide.

This movie was a big let-down. I LOVED the first two Mummy movies in the series and could watch them over and over. This one was written so bad that the lines could be laughed at throughout the entire thing (and I don’t mean the comedic lines). The wife is a different person and is awful, son talks like John Wayne and is too old compared to the years that went by, and Jet Li was barely in the movie/had any lines. The special effects in this movie were mediocre in 1995 and that’s saying something. The story of it completely broke off from what it was in the first two. The wife has no connection to her past like in the second one whatsoever. I would not recommend this to anyone that loves the first two. If you don’t want to ruin the series and have not seen this movie, then don’t even think about watching this. I have never been so disappointed in a movie.

The ABC drama series “Dirty Sex Money” created by Craig Wright (”Brothers and Sisters”, “Lost” and “Six Feet Under”) definitely made its impression when it took out an ad back in 2007 using Paris Hilton’s jail sentence to promote its show. The series which was originally given 22-episodes for its first season and ran into bad luck (as with other shows) due to the WGA writer’s strike. The first season only received 10 episodes and by the time the second season came back on air, it was ten months since the season finale.

VIDEO & AUDIO:

“Dirty Sexy Money - The Complete and Final Second Season” is featured in widescreen with an aspect ratio of 1:78:1, enhanced for 16×9 television. For the most part, the picture quality of “Dirty Sexy Money” is good as expect from a drama series on DVD. But one of the positives of the series is that there is quite a bit of outdoor shots and definitely utilizes an elaborate set design to create the luxurious world of the Darlings.

As for the audio, the series is featured in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound. The series is primarily a dialogue driven series with front and center channels being the main source of audio distribution. Dialogue is clear and understandable. But for the most part, the audio is satisfactory for this drama series, this is not a series that doesn’t feature any major scenes that involve surround sound usage.

Subtitles are presented in English SDH, French and Spanish.

SPECIAL FEATURES:

“Dirty Sexy Money - The Complete and Final Second Season” includes the following special features:

* Directing the Darlings - (11:31) Director Jamie Babbit talks about directing the series. Behind-the-scenes footage of Babbit working on certain scenes from the series. Also, interviews with the executive producers and more.

* A Total Knockout - (8:41) A day in the life of Natalie Zea (who plays the character of “Karen”) on the set of “Dirty Sexy Money”. A featurette about Natalie and her character and other talent talking about what they like about working with her.

* Dirty Sexy Crafty - (9:15) Meeting with Josh Kuhn, the Mobile Craft Service Specialist who prepares the food for the cast and crew. The talent talk about the food they eat on the show and the top 5 things that people on the show love to eat and also behind-the-scenes look at Josh serving food to the cast.

* Faux Pas - Bloopers from Season 2 - (1:52) A short blooper reel featuring the cast of “Dirty Sexy Money”.

* Deleted Scenes - Seven deleted scenes which include: A Darling Cover-up?, Letitia Romances Tripp, Unwanted Guest, Patrick’s Politics, Stinking Up the Place, Brian’s Complicated Life and Done!. The final deleted scene actually gives some insight of how the series could have ended.

JUDGMENT CALL:

“Dirty Sexy Money” was a series that I really enjoyed when it first aired on television. The first season showed promise but it was such a shame that the WGA Writer’s Strike really put a damper on the series. Not only was the series cut short but its schedule was too erratic.

By the time it came back on television for season 2, it was already ten months later. Too much time had passed since the finale and to make things worse, when the second season did air, again the season was out of whack as the final five episodes took several months to air after it was reported that the series was canceled. Needless to say, the series did not have much of a chance to get back on its feet.

After watching “Dirty Sexy Money - The Complete and Final Second Season”, not only did I enjoy it, it was bittersweet because the series ends with a major bombshell and you know there are no future episodes to continue the storyline.

Overall, I feel that fans of the series can find some closure with this final DVD set and find some satisfaction from the final 13 episodes. As mentioned, the final episode was quite intriguing and again, it’s a shame that the series will not be continued.

As for the characters, I found them all quite intriguing and you eventually become drawn to that character’s storyline. I was also drawn by the drama and the multiple infighting between the characters, and it’s quite interesting because one can find similarities with this drama series to 80’s drama series such as “Dallas” and “Dynasty” which involve corporate greed, families that were born with luxury and of course, those few characters on the outside who seem to despise that lifestyle.

I felt that the trimming of the first season down to 10 episodes possibly took away from much needed character development and for the second season, although I enjoyed the series, I did have some problems with seeing the disintegration of Nick and Lisa’s marriage but also seeing this somewhat unlikely storyline involving Simon Elder and Nola Lyon. It was a bit farfetched and in someways, I just felt that the character of Simon seemed a bit too young to be the rival of Tripp Darling and therefore, for me, it hindered the storyline as these two rich corporate behemoths would go against each other. It just didn’t seem right.

I did enjoy the part of Karen Darling because her character could have been handled as the typical socialite (ie. which fits the character of Juliet Darling) but easily redeems herself as a person that wants to be love and wants to love someone. So, it was quite interesting to see how her character started to evolve through the second season.

As for the DVD release, “Dirty Sexy Money - The Complete and Final Second Season” does feature solid picture quality for a drama series on DVD and for the most part, the series doesn’t have poor lighting issues or heavy noise during low-light conditions that some drama series tend to have. I felt that the set design and even the costume design was well-done for the series and capturing that style and feel of the rich Darling family and their living space. Audio was quite clear and there are a few special features included. Although, I do wish there was some sort of commentary track included, especially for the final episode.

Overall, fans who dedicated their time into watching “Dirty Sexy Money” will want to definitely check out this final second season if you happen to miss the episodes on television. Again, the final season will provide enough closure for the viewer but then instantly give you a feeling right at the end of the final episode of wanting more.

It’s hard to recommend a TV series on DVD especially when the series has been canceled but for the most part, fans who loved the series or those who missed out on how the series ended, will find “Dirty Sexy Money - The Complete and Final Second Season” satisfying but at the same time, a bittersweet feeling that you want even more “Dirty Sexy Money”, but knowing that there will be no more continuing episodes.

I love this show. How could they not have renewed it for additional seasons??

I bought the Pioneer version of this a few months before this one came out. The movie was very good, but I didn’t like the voices at all and the picture quality was simply awful. But, with this version of it, they use the FUNimation voices, with new music and a new script, which I like better than the Pioneer script. (Which was actually the Japanese script.)

Many people like the Pioneer version over this one becquse they used the Japenese music and dialouge. However, if you want that, just watch the Japenese version of it, on this DVD. (Pioneer always had poor subtitles on their DVD’s, but FUnimation always gets the subtitles right.) Also, this is the digitally remastered version, and it looks very, very good.

I’m so glad they’re finally releasing the Ultimate Uncut editions. Pioneer took and butchered a great series, cutting the climactic Goku Vegeta battle into utter crap, and ruined the great Namek saga. Finally, we’ll see these episodes, (and movies-World’s Strongest and Tree of Might are also being re-released) the way they were meant to be seen.

I can hardly wait for the new Dead Zone redub by FUNImation. It should be cooler to hear the FUNI actors provide the voices, as I personally think they did better at the voices than the original Ocean Group actors.

Besides, it will be great to collectors such as myself. Along with the eventual re-releases of “The World’s Strongest” and “Tree of Might”, it will finally have some continuation of voices. I always hated it when they replace actors on cartoons, as it throws off the whole state of mind that was previously established. Smart move to FUNImation for redoing the first three movies along with the first two sagas! It’s gonna rule!

Actually, I’ll give “The Asphalt Jungle” four and a half stars, as it stands as one of the great “films noir”, and another triumph for director, John Huston. This is a gritty, realistic portrait of the big city’s dark “underbelly”, circa 1950, and some of the shady characters who are trying to survive in this tough environment.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Asphalt Jungle! Click Here

Most of the people we meet in “Jungle” are crooks, with different skills–there is even the obligatory “cop on the take”. A brainy crook named “Doc” ( Sam Jaffe, excellent as usual ) has just been released from jail, where he has clearly not been rehabilitated ! He has planned a big jewellery heist. Of course, he needs help to pull it off. With the assistance of the local bookie, “Cobby” ( sweaty, nervous Marc Lawrence ), he recruits an expert safe-cracker, “Louis” ( desperate Anthony Caruso ), a getaway driver, “Gus” ( cool-under-fire James Whitmore ) and, for muscle, a bitter, tough-as-nails hood, “Dix” (an unshaven Sterling Hayden, never better ). To bankroll the whole operation, our gang brings in a sleazy lawyer named Emmerich, played with smarmy elitism by Louis Calhern.

Of course, you know what can happen to “the best laid plans”. Unforeseen problems, accidents and the personal faults of the individuals involved cause Doc’s “perfect plan” to go off the rails. There is much more to the plot, not to mention some interesting sub-plots, but I don’t like to spoil movies for first-time viewers, so I will not reveal more of the story-line.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Asphalt Jungle! Click Here

I would like to mention a few other performances though that further contribute to a fine film. Jean Hagen plays “Doll”, Dix’s long-suffering girlfriend, a very different role to her ditzy, petulant “star” in “Singin’ in the Rain”–what a versatile actress ! John McIntire registers strongly as the Police Commissioner, a job obviously not for “nice guys” ! Brad Dexter has a few memorable scenes as a private eye.

Finally, Emmerich’s mistress, “Angela”, is played by a young actress just starting her career in movies–Marilyn Monroe. Her acting here may not be on a par with the other actors, but her glamour and charisma still leap off the screen.

The DVD exhibits a reasonable black and white picture, with some occasional wear–sound of course is mono. Extras include a trailer, a brief introduction by John Huston, optional comments by film scholar, Drew Casper, and even a few reminiscences by cast-member, James Whitmore ( his comments on Marilyn are interesting ).

Bottom line–if you like classic, hard-boiled film noir, “The Asphalt Jungle” rates with the best. You are in for 112 minutes of gripping entertainment. Recommended.

A very sad footnote, dated 16 February 2009–Mr. James Whitmore has passed away. This fine actor had a long career in film, television and in the theatre, where he displayed a remarkable talent in so many different roles.

When director John Huston was edged out of the production of The Killers, he was determined to create a landmark film that would define and embody professional crimminality. Huston exceeded his expectations. The Asphalt Jungle is the seminal “caper film” which inspired a host of similar pictures. Huston assembled a superb cast where each actor represented a character who possessed a special skill needed to complete a million dollar jewel heist. Sam Jaffe is Doc Reidenschneider-the mastermind, Anthony Caruso is Louie Ciavelli- the safe cracker, Marc Lawrence is Coby- the bookmaker who finances the operation, Sterling Hayden is Dix Handley- the enforcer, James Whitmore is Gus- the wheelman, and Louis Calhern is Emmerich- the corrupt attorney who acts as a fence. The characters, especially Doc, Louie, Dix, and Gus, are sketched with blatant realism. Each character is proud of their status and existence within the underworld. Their careers and reputations hinge on their acceptance by fellow professionals. Huston injects the virtues of trust, loyalty, and respect into their crimminal circle and simultaneously questions the code of honor among the rightousness. Emmerich sums up this dichotomy with a memorable line: “There’s nothing so different about them (crimminals). Crime is only a left-handed form of human endeavor.” Morality, an issue in most noir films becomes blurred as Emmerich and a graft accepting detective become viewed as figures more contemptable than the crimminals involved in the heist. Sterling Hayden as Dix delivers his most memorable performance. Dix is not just another tough henchman, but a troubled loner trying to …”wash this city dirt off me”. Huston allows viewers unabashed insight into each of his characters. Doc with his predilection for nubile young girls, Gus’s conscious awareness of his physical deformity, Louie’s familial responsibilities, and Emmerich’s moral disintegration add to the film’s realism. The Asphalt Jungle is one of the premier black and white films ever made. John Huston’s creative energy is evident in every line and scene. Truely American film making at its best.

For several years, I stayed up well past 2am on Saturday nights hoping to catch reruns of the classic, full SNL shows from 1975-1980. NBC was re-airing some of these great programs in their entirety (not “best of” packages) with few exceptions, starting in the late 1990s in most NBC outlets. Unfortunately, the original cast shows were the exception and the Dana Carvey and/or Will Farrell years were the norm. After several years, I managed to videotape about 25-30 original cast shows, but only about 4 from the first season.

Younger audiences unfamiliar with the original SNL will likely be surprised by a number of things in viewing this great collection. Firstly, for those of us who remember, SNL was the most weird and cutting-edge show to be found in those days. The concept of “late night” television was certainly not then what it is today either. There really is no “late night” anymore, what with hundreds of cable/satellite channels and the Internet to keep us entertained around the clock. In the ’70s, however, late night was a wasteland of old movies and reruns. Most stations ended their broadcast day by about 1 or 2am (for the tech-geners, this means the three network stations, one public station and typically about 3 or 4 local stations). As far as the networks were concerned, Johnny Carson owned the airways after the local news; this was literally true in many ways. Although not on air during the weekend, Carson Productions was quite a powerful entity, owning many weekend program slots. Beyond local news & the Tonight Show, there was little interest in developing a “late night” program. Secondly, SNL had huge shock value for a culture that wasn’t used to seeing risqué material paraded constantly on broadcast TV. For that stuff, most of us had to go to the movies for “un-edited” material. VCRs were not yet in every household and cable was only available in limited format in markets like New York. In the culture that was then, SNL’s impact was enormous, providing essential “water cooler” chat on Monday morning. It was what people stayed home for on Saturday nights. It was really the only “hip” show on TV.

The Not Ready for Primetime Players were a product of the counterculture 1960s. Much of their humor - especially the now surprising amount of drug references - will seem not only brazenly un-PC (thank heaven!), but incredibly raw for those used to the, ironically, structured and institution-ized nature of the show today. In this sense, the first season shows will not only appear dated, but also register way over-the-heads of most younger viewers. SNL has always been and always will be a victim of instant-datedness, in large part due to one of their greatest attributes: topical comedy. Even some of us still familiar with the pressing issues of the 70s may have a hard time remembering every reference!

Buy,Download, Or Stream Saturday Night Live - The Complete First Season : 1975-1976! Click Here

These earlier shows are also striking in their experimentation. The format we now know & love was at least two seasons in the making. The cast themselves were not considered as the main draw, amazingly enough, and their presence in the first few shows is remarkably sparse. In fact, the second episode is largely music-oriented. Many creative techniques were tried, and some fail miserably. Watch how poorly Abba (although a good performance) are incorporated into an already-in-progress Robert Klein skit. Fast forward past the Muppets if you will…or, if you found them humorous & innovative, as I did, marvel at Jim Henson’s shocking (for him anyway) use of drug-related humor! No matter what the result, it’s great to see a show daring enough to explore such diverse elements of entertainment, from short films, stand-up comedy, audience participation, to the even occasional use of dramatic device & pathos in the skits. All these things are largely verboten on the show today. Fondly remember a time when often obscure musical guests were chosen for their performance chops and uniqueness, and rarely their pop status, let alone how well they could lip synch (oddly this was not completely true with Abba…but that’s a long story!). And of course, relish forever the genius blend of Chase, Belushi, Aykroyd, Radner, Curtain, Newman and the unsung Garret Morris.

I must say that it is absolutely great that we can finally see the shows as they were originally broadcast (minus the 25 minutes of commercials that I hated sitting through). This is SNL in its prime. In seeing these uncut shows, you will see just how good the original cast was. Just one show from this season is better than any yearly “Best Of” they can put together from the current cast.

THE DOWN SIDE: There has been little effort made to restore the 30+ year old videotapes. The picture is often soft with color bleeding to the right of objects on screen. This is not the original way we saw the series live, so some restoration would have been nice. Other shows have gotten better DVD treatment.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW if you never saw the first season live:

1) Take away the 25 minutes of commercials and these “90 Minute” shows only run 65 minutes.

2) In those days the show was NOT called “Saturday Night Live”, that title was used by sportscaster Howard Cosell for his weekly live vartiety show seen at 9pm, Saturday Nights on the ABC Network. This show’s first season was officially called “NBC’s Saturday Night” and introduced as “Live from New York, it’s NBC’s Saturday Night”. These original titles were later re-shot as just “Saturday Night” for the hour long syndication run, and “The Best Of Saturday Night Live” for the later cut-down half hour syndication run.

3) While the first show seems to be a in the regular sketch format, the second show is more of a Paul Simon Special with Chevy Chase making a brief appearance to introduce the show, and later to do a “Weekend Update”. The “Not Ready For Prime Time Players” make brief appearances in filmed segments. The third show returns to the familiar sketch format, but the end credits roll over a slide of the guest star rather than have everyone waving “by” on stage. It is apparent that NBC was still finding the style & format for the show.

4) Season 1 was the only season with Chevy Chase as a regular, after that he would appear as a guest star.

5) Bill Murray was not a regular in the first season.

Ok, if listening to a geek bothers you, skip this review, although you are reading a review of a chipmunk cartoon, so, “Hello, kindred spirit!” This is one of those movies I watched religiously as a kid and survived into my adulthood. Geek alert: I even still listen to the sound-track. . . the songs really are good. You get to hear the chipmunks sing about Rock and Roll and Gettin’ Lucky! It really is a truly cute movie, full of rip-roaring animated chipmunk hilarity and adventure. They go all over the world on a huge and dangerous race, all the while evading two captors who are out to get them. There is a classic Chipmunks verses the Chipettes dance/sing off. Completely entertaining for all kids, and enjoyable on a completely different level now that I am an adult. Rich color, great sound, non-stop action and humor. My only complaint is that they need to get it out on DVD!

Though we are led to believe that the stars of this movie are the Chipmunks, it’s Brittany, Jeanette, and Eleanor who really steal the film. It is as gorgeous to look at as it is fun to watch! Oh, and I have to mention one of the two criminals, the brother Klaus, who is simply hilarious! And who could forget the comic bantor over the phone between Miss Miller and Dave! Some of it was right out of Abbot and Costello! This is one of those films that reminds you that the 80’s wasn’t a total loss, at least not when it comes to animation. But where’s our merchandise? I want a Brittany doll like in the movie! I know some merchandise was put out, more based on the show, but it was hard to aquire then, and it’s almost impossible today, even with the internet! Anyway, show! In this film we see the two aspiring musical acts in a hot air baloon race around the world, unwittingly playing the roles of diamond smugglers for a pair of unscrupulous criminal siblings. The Chipmunks are at their best in this completely entertaining film, but the Chipettes are better than ever! With the bigger budget animation we see art and movement that is a vast improvement over the TV version. What can I say, in this movie, the girls are adorable!!! I mean, a thousand times moreso than on TV, especially the lovely Brittany! This is one of those handful of movies that proves that non-Disney, non-Anime animation can still be GREAT!!!! The movie has very effective comedy, Excellent songs, and is surprisingly well animated. Not as perfect as from Disney, but the musical numbers are given special effort and come off spectacular! There are a few sightings of choppy animation in the film, but very few. For the most part this a great movie! Buy yourself a copy, and let’s hope it gets the DVD treatment soon!

I was more than pleased when the unit arrived. I thought I hasd purchased a new unit. I immediately put it to work boring 10″ deep x 3/4″ holes in mature conceret and it perfromed flawlessly.

I have been very pleased with this Bosch rotary hammer. As delivered, the external body was in like new condition with case. Most importantly, the drill made fast work of a number of 1/2 holes to a depth of 9 to 10 inches in concrete. I found it was best to use only moderate pressure to get the fastest drilling rate in the concrete - you can see the drill make visible progress into the hole. The drill gear box does get quite warm after 3 to 4 holes, so I let it cool down between sets.

I bought these chipping hammers because they were so cheap, but they both fell apart the first day we used them and I had to run out and buy new ones and pay full price for the new ones. I bought a different brand instead and they seem to be holding up just fine. My fault, you get what you pay for.

UPDATE:

Below is my review which a lot of people found useful. So, i want to write this udpate. Now, get the C340 & not the C330. the biggest difference is C340 spells street name out like turn left on main st, take 95S etc. It MAKES A BIG DIFF FOR ANOTHER $50 !!!

AND GET THIS MOUNT, IT IS FANTASTIC:

Garmin Dashboard Mount for StreetPilot c320, c330 and c340

===============================================================

I have used Navman ICN 630, Megallen RM 700 & finally this one.

I can tell you this is the best & most of all easiest. This is why this unit is the best:

1. No downloading of Maps

2. Has most udpated Maps compared to other brands

3. Has 5 million points of interest compared to others

4. Touchscreen

5. Easiest of all to use. Easier than the Acura GPS i have used.

6. Very small but with most usable screen view. It doesn’t take a lot of winshield space, doesn;t block visibility. Though screen is small, letters are SO BIG & EASY TO READ.

7. Very fast software

8. Very easy to carry while traveling.

9. Excellent windshield mount. Very stable

10. It comes on when Car is turned on.

11. It has rechargeable battery which lasts for about 3 hrs i think.

12. Loud/clear voice.

13. Very intuitive operating system.

14. Fixes the GPS signal instantly. Navman used to take longer.

15. This is interesting. You can remove the unti without unplugging the car DC cord. DC cord is connected to mount always.

The Garmin C330 is a well designed, easy to use GPS. It does not offer all the bells and whistles of the Garmin 2620 or Magellan RM700, for example - but the C330 offers simplicity and quality in a nice neat package. The advantages of the C330:

- The display is awesome - high resolution with good contrast.

- No buttons! Everything, except volume and power, is controlled by the touch screen.

- The software is fast; route calculations take just a few seconds.

- After the initial lock, this little unit locks on very quickly after powering up.

- The internal battery is terrific; you can do your route planning indoors without looking for an AC receptacle, and you can leave the unit on during a rest stop on your trip to preserve trip data. Battery life is 3 to 4 hours.

- The OS is super intuitive.

- The 3D view is simple to follow, but the map view is excellent, also.

- Navigation performance is excellent.

- Speakers are built in, with excellent sound quality.

- Windshield mount is small, sturdy and simple.

- The unit is small enough that it won’t obstruct your view.

- The power cord is hardwired to the windshield mount - no plug to contend with.

A few disadvantages I’ve noticed:

- The battery is not user replaceable

- The C330 cannot save a route. But this is not a big deal. When you start up after a stop, you just have it calculate the route to your destination, which takes just seconds - or just leave it on if your stop doesn’t exceed 3 to 4 hours.

- The display can get washed out in direct light on a bright day - but I expect that is common to all GPS units.

- As I mentioned, it doesn’t have the bells and whitles of the 2630 or RM 700. For example, you can’t monitor satellite signal strength from indiviual satellites. you can’t determinen your lat/long position, and as I mentioned, you can’t save routes in the C330. And you can’t program it for several different users like you can with the RM700.

But all in all, the C330 is a winner. It’s simple to operate, well designed, very effective, and reasonably priced. It’s a strong buy!

This is my first Navi ever, but I’m no stranger to it, I just never owned one till now. For the features I was looking for, I narrowed my options to The Garmin 2620, Garmin C330, and Megellan 700. Needless to say the C330 was my pick.

I painstakingly reviewed these (3) GPS items and read every review and feedback I could find, then I comb the manufacturers websites for all specs and features, updates yaddy yadda, then I made a few trips to the store to get some hands on experience and feel of the products.

The C330 has a refreshing out of box experience. It can be fired up right away to begin use. I did not need to read the manual to start using it, the idiot proof interface makes it very easy to learn, which is a plus because my wife can use it when I’m doing the driving. The models that I also considered provided a little more features than the C330, But they did not have an internal power source. Memory-wise, the C330 has a 2 GIG micro drive, which is quite adequate for all the US maps and any updates etc.

Personally, my heart was set on the Magellan 700, but the cost and the fact that it only had 2 million POI (Points of Interest) compared to Garmin 5 million POI, turned me away from it. Of the (3) items I considered, the C330 is the only one that has a 100% touch screen interface and the smallest size so that it can be mounted/stored anywhere. GPSs’ are not getting any bigger, with today’s designers using micro/flash memory technology, our units will become more inconspicuous. The C330 can be a little difficult to see in the Sunlight, but not too bad. The Megellan 700 and the Garmin 2620 does have a port for an external antenna as well as the C330, which can be had for about $20 from a third party source.

The manual is very easy to read and colorful, but I found that it was not in-depth, some things I had to call Garmin to clarify. I was curious about the internal battery, that only they can change. It would cost $125 just to send the unit in if it needed work outside of the warranty period…..hopefully the battery will last about five years when I’m ready to upgrade.

Garmin updated maps usually comes out every 10-14 months so one is due out any time now. and it would cost me $75 to update the maps if I so desire. If you plan to get one and you get it on or after the new maps release date, the upgrade would be free.

I’m very please with the touch screen response and the layout out the maps, the list of Hotels, restaurants etc. all w/ phone numbers too. the volume is great, as long as you’re not do 80MPH w/ your windows down. It recognizes dirt roads also - provided that the roads all existed before 2004 (the last map release date).

I will not be redundant and mention all the other points that the previous reviews mention, but for the most part the (3-4) reviews before mine were accurate and very helpful.

The C330 does not display your elevation, which is a minus, it’s nice to know when driving in the mountains.

This unit has its share of nuggets to find that will just leave you in amazement. If I had to choose all over again I’ll still get the C330.

Buyers beware, If you purchase the more expensive model (c330) it comes preloaded with all the maps so there is no need to be transferring data back and forth, but you DO NOT get the software on City Select CD ROM. If you opt for the cheaper version (C320) you will get the City Select CD, because the entire map can’t fit on that unit..you’ll have to transfer data via memory card.

I’ve also noticed that unless you are looking directly perpendicular to the screen, the colors don’t show correctly, in other words if you are the driver or passenger and you look at the screen at an angle, it will be still visible but the colors tend to wash out, sort of like with a laptop if the screen is not tilted right.

My experience with Tech support is fair. The wait time is a little lengthy, but once one the phone, they don’t try to rush you through your questions to get you off the phone. I was helped adequately with all my questions.

A great advantage is the mounting flexibility, any area of the windshield, the dashboard or console (comes w/base mount) or as a handheld providing the internal battery doesn’t quit. Icons, splash screens and markers can by customerized via the Garmin software on their website. the images can be transported back and forth from the unit as BMP files and edited.

There are three ways to view the map

1) Bird’s eye view with the map always facing north and the arrow/cursor moves as you drive.

2) Bird’s eye view with the arrow remains still and the map moves around as you drive

3) “3D” mode. Where the view is the same as you would see out of your windshield except it’s slightly elevated so you can see a wider angle and detect streets about a block away an all three sides of you.

The unit automatically detects your speed and zooms out when you’re driving fast and zooms in when you’re moving slow, so you’re never over/under driving the map. The receiver is very good in my opinion, sometimes (depend on what part of the house I am) I get a good signal indoors. I have my C330 mounted above my rearview mirror in my vehicle (barely got it to fit) so it does NOT have a clear view of the sky and if it did, the factory tint in the windshield would also block it…yet I get a good signal. Mounting it on the middle of my windshield yield the best results and start up time, but I chose to mount it above my rearview mirror to eliminate any sunlight glare from hitting the screen and it’s working great.

To respond to previous reviewers comments…. It was pointed out that Garmin should’ve added a feature where you can see an Icon or marker that indicated the locations of all the POI nearby as you drive by them. Well I’ve found a way to do it, although it’s not noted in Garmin’s sub-par manual. All you have to do is go to [Menu - Where To - Show Map] and you’ll see all the attractions, lodging, eating, gas etc. locations on the road/area that you’re currently on.

Another thing that’s not mentioned on the manual. Lets say you’re somewhere and you don’t know the address, but you want to save and revisit that location. Go to [Menu - Where TO - Show Map - Info - Save]
