The Top 10 Greatest Quarterbacks of All Time

February 4th, 2010 by davon4691

10) Terry Bradshaw - Might be most well known for being a commentator nowadays, but wait on in his playing days he impartial happen to have won 4 tidy bowls. The guy had an absolute cannon for an arm.

9) Steve Young - As gifted an athlete that has ever played the area. Always was in the shadow of Joe Montana. That speedily ended when he won his first shipshape Bowl.

8) Johnny Unitas - An icon of a foregone era. I hold the term “field general” was invented because of Unitas.

7) Fran Tarkenton -Sure, he never won the astronomical one, but who cares? All you have to do is peer at his stats. He was a quarterback who was scheme ahead of its time.

6) Joe Montana - Blessed to have an offensive genius for a coach, Montana led the 49ers as the team of the 80s and cemented his legacy with an amazing last exiguous drive to beat the Bengals in the trim Bowl.

5) Tom Brady - When this guy’s career is over he might be number 1 on this list. He is almost real replica of Joe Montana. He is allotment of an offensive system that was impartial made for him.

4) Peyton Manning - Not only is he an improbable quarterback, but he’s also an fabulous offensive coordinator. I don’t mediate there has ever been a quarterback who understands the x’s and o’s of football better than Peyton Manning.

3) Brett Favre - Anybody who can play at that kind of level for that many consecutive games is nothing short of legendary. I’m a colossal fan of Cal Ripken but his ironman recount pales in comparison to what Favre has done.

2) John Elway - No quarterback has ever played in more dapper Bowls than John Elway. To place Elway’s abilities in perspective, when he played the Broncos were always trim Bowl contenders. The moment he finish, the Broncos have become nothing but playoff hopefuls.

1) Dan Marino - Quite simply, the greatest pure passer to ever play the game. He never played with teams as complete as others on this list, but he threw passes that mere mortals should bot be able to pull off. With a lighting hasty release, the football would be able to go through a brick wall.

The quality of the thread extinct plays a astronomical allotment in the cost of the shirt. Discounts or sale events only happen when the season is about to demolish so if the person wants to be in style, the customer has no choice but to pay for it.

Is there no procedure to net a salubrious bargain? Yes there is because there are sites on the web that acquire these from suppliers at wholesale then sell it to people at rock bottom prices.

An example could be a Nike pair of shorts that will cost $24.99 in the sporting goods store. fill it not, these same item can be purchased off the internet for impartial $8.99. This means the customer can almost catch three items for the ticket of one.

Things like these are considered to be a superior bargain and those who want it will unprejudiced have to give the credit card details and once current, the company will have this prepared and delivered to the client’s home in a few days.

“The Chamber of Secrets” novel in the Harry Potter series is generally considered the weakest of J. K. Rowling’s books - it does not have the joyful discovery of “Philosopher’s Stone”, the dark twists of “Prisioner of Azkaban” or the epic nature of “Goblet of Fire”, but is simply a very good story. However, I predict its relative simplicity will make “Chamber of Secrets” the most successful book-to-movie translation in the series, as it is undoubtably better than the first movie, and it will be a daunting task for film-makers to tackle the intricate plot lines of book three and the collosal book four.

Like all the books, “Chamber” begins midway through the summer as Harry’s twelfth birthday is nearing, and again he faces a rather dismal one in the company of his horrible uncle, aunt and cousin. Excitement is already on the move however, as when Harry enters his bedroom the house elf Dobby is waiting for him, who warns him that under no circumstances is he to return to Hogwarts, where a great danger is waiting for him.

But return he does, after being rescued from his family by the Weasley family and the now-famous flying blue Ford Angelia, and indeed finds what Dobby promised - something is stalking the halls of Hogwarts, putting all the students in great danger. Taking it upon himself to save his beloved home Harry and his friends Ron and Hermione seek out the clues, and find themselves facing a terrible evil. In a story filled with giant spiders, savage willow trees, magical swords, disembodied voices, mysterious diaries, glorious phoenixes, flying cars and Quidditch matches, the action and excitement doesn’t let up until the ending credits.

Once again Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson return as the three main protagonists, and I’m glad to say that while their acting was a little awkward in the first movie (understandable for newcomers) they’ve mellowed out and are much more natural with their characters and each other. Under-rated actor Tom Felton is again wickedly good, and Maggie Smith (McGonagall), Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid) and Alan Rickman (Snape) roll out brilliant performances. Unfortunatly I can’t say the same for Richard Harris - Dumbledore in my mind is an elderly yet lively and energetic man, yet here I was petrified he was going to kneel over any second.

The best part of any sequel in a series is the myraid of new characters to see, including the afore mentioned Dobby, the mysterious and sinister Tom Riddle, the narcissic Gilderoy Lockhart (played with great pizzazz by Kenneth Branaugh), and pompous Cornelius Fudge, and more of the Weasley family - more from Julie Walters as Molly Weasley, an introduction to Arthur Weasley, and from George, Fred and (especially) Ginny.

Three performances stick out though: Lucius Malfoy was great - cold, calm and elegant, this guy just *oozed* sinister charm, Moaning Myrtle, with her high-pitched sobs and shrieks was an unexpected surprise and Colin Creevy, the forerunner to Book Four’s reporter Rita Skeeter and J. K. Rowling’s dig at the media was a small, but essential gem, and I love that split-second scene of horror on his face as the runaway Buldger hurtles towards him!

Finally the sets, costumes and props are lovely, but the special effects are only so-so. The Quidditch game (again more visually exciting than any written account) is very good, as is the ‘monster in the chamber’, but the phoenix, spiders and Dobby could have used some tweaking.
All in all, a fun, interesting, colourful, sometimes-scary, and faithful adaptation to a beloved book, that (along with the Two Towers) brought 2002 to a fantasy-filled climax in the movie industry.

I’m a senior citizen who loves Harry Potter. I have read the first 3 books and will purchase “The Goblet of Fire” on books on tape.
I won’t go into the plot. Suffice it to say it follows the book. The acting was wonderful by our 3 main stars. There is not enough of Alan Rickman, a truly wonderful actor. Kenneth Branagh was so-so and I don’t know the man who played Lucious Malfoy but he was perfect. I hated him in “The Patriot” and hated him even more here. Richard Harris will be sorely missed. What a fine performance for his last film.
I never realized that the film was 2 3/4 hours. The time flew. The special effects are outstanding.
I liked the further character development. You see what a wonderful and loving family Ron Weesley comes from. You find out why Hagrid is the way he is. You also get to realzie why Draco Malfoy is the way he is when you get to see the father.
There was so much to see. So much to enjoy.
For the first movie, I saw the movie first and then read the book. For this story, I read the book first and then saw the movie. Either way, I was thrilled with both movies.
I can’t tell you how much I’m looking forward the the third movie.
If you haven’t had the opportunity to see “The Chamber of Secrets”, please go and see it. It’s a treat for the eyes, mind and soul.
Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy

For one thing, this movie pivoted on the theme of baseball is a world better than the Madonna/Davis starring “A league of their own” or the more recent travesties like “A field of dreams”. For another, the schism between American and Japanese ideologies/way of life is just so truly captured that it is difficult to believe this movie is not the de-facto recommendation for people interested in Japan. Guess it missed out on the major league scene because, well, quite literally it is not about US major leagues?

A US baseball star (Selleck) is traded to a Japanese baseball team and finds himself at intellectual loggerheads with the extant coach of the team. This, plus a slight romantic sub-plot as he falls in love with the coach’s daughter.

Barring some minor cheesy moments — e.g., when the coach takes Selleck to a golf driving range and makes him hit the balls with a baseball bat, only to hear “I want to hit balls” instead of “I want to hit baseballs”…hmm — the accuracy of Japanese life is truly stunning. Including, eating ramen with vociferous slurps, digging chopsticks vertically in rice bowls being a no-no, the language used to communicate between the American/Japanese, even a scene with a real on-sen. A refreshing break after stereotype galore seen in movies of that time, including the entertaining “Black Rain” or the absolutely goofball “Rising Sun”.

To cut to the chase, this is an under-rated gem of a movie, very well shot, some messages about life and profession as seen from two very different perspectives that are likely to resonate with either side. Selleck takes the cake with his acting, baring his tush (literally, I may add) to portray a grouchy American, snubbing people relentlessly and throwing tantrums in public, then letting us inside this character to understand his views. Takakura Ken, needless to say, is fascinating as usual.

A must watch if you are interested in Japan, or baseball, or a good light-hearted cross cultural take on life and sport.

MR. BASEBALL is a film of paradoxes. Written and filmed as a “light, sports comedy” it truly has a heartwarming core as human and universal as some of Capra’s finest. At the plot level, you have the paradox of baseball, a fine old American game, as it is played in Japan - turned around, with American values cast off and Japanese values imprinted upon the game. (Some of the superficial “sports comedy” results from Jack’s uncomprehending disbelief at how “basa-boru” is played in Japan.) You also have a lead character who’s presented as an over-the-hill, aging baseball star, but who is actually quite immature - pro ball allowed him to postpone growing up. And you have a lead character who is rudely resistant to the changes in his life that are being forced upon him, refusing to accept the curveball that life has given him, in the midst of a new country, a new manager, a new team, and a new girlfriend, who have all welcomed him and try to accept him. Sound like heavy stuff? Not really. It’s a charming “clash of cultures” comedy that takes place on the national, sports, romantic, and professional levels. But if you watch it sensitively enough, you will also find a great story about a man who has to abandon his immaturity and grow up way too late in life (causing some amount of personal pain), and finds success in places he never expected it. I love the story, but I also have great respect for Selleck’s performance; he bares his tush (literally) to portray an ugly American, insulting people and throwing tantrums in public, then lets us inside this character to understand his dismay. It also doesn’t hurt if you’re a big fan of Takakura Ken like I am. MR. BASEBALL is a surprising “loss of innocence” tale.

Guy Ritchie’s “RocknRolla” is an expertly crafted crime caper, leading its characters through a labyrinthine plot, enticing the audience with clever writing, a strong cast, and brilliantly structured scenes of amazing style and precision. It earns the rare distinction of being successfully violent and funny at the same time, and yet it isn’t cheap or juvenile; it achieves a higher level of boorishness, one that doesn’t leave us feeling ashamed so much as it forces us to stare in helpless fascination. It tells a story that inventively entangles the characters–and us–in a vast web of corruption, deceit, and greed, and that’s only within the first fifteen minutes. With such creative, fast-paced storytelling at work, I was happy to just sit back, relax, and let the story happen to me. Some may criticize “RocknRolla” for being hard to follow, and indeed, an awful lot happens in a relatively short period of time. But if you watch and listen closely, you’ll soon realize that it’s guiding you along.

What exactly is a RocknRolla? According to the film’s narrator, a gangster named Archie (Mark Strong), to be a RocknRolla is, “not about drugs, drums, and hospital drips. We all like a bit of the good life–some the money, some the drugs, others the sex game, the glamour, or the fame.” But a RocknRolla is different. Why? “Because a real RocknRolla wants the lot.” It could be said, then, that Lenny Cole (Tom Wilkinson), Archie’s boss and the notoriously powerful head of London’s criminal underworld, is a RocknRolla. He has complete control over the city’s booming real estate market. One day, a pair of gangsters–One Two (Gerard Butler) and Mumbles (Idris Elba)–ask Lenny to finance a piece of property they want to develop. Lenny agrees to loan them a sizeable sum. What they don’t know is that he doesn’t intend on giving them the permits they’re going to need; by going back on the deal, he can claim the property for himself and sell it for millions more. Unfortunately, this means that One Two and Mumbles will be millions of pounds in debt.

Here enters Stella (Thandie Newton), a cigarette-smoking, double-crossing temptress who, out of convenience, married a gay lawyer. She’s a super-crafty accountant for a Russian mobster named Uri (Karel Roden), who, as it turns out, is making his own real estate deals with Lenny. When Uri asks Stella to secure 7,000,000 euros for a business transaction, she decides to play her own little game: She’ll hire someone to intercept the unprotected money, then she’ll pay the interceptor 2,000,000 euros and keep the remaining 5,000,000 for herself. Lo and behold, along comes One Two, desperately in need of cash to pay off his debt.

Buy,Download, Or Stream RocknRolla! Click Here

And this is when things really get interesting. Around the same time Stella and One Two come to an understanding, Uri decides to lend his most prized possession, a painting, to Lenny. Uri says that the painting has always brought him good luck, and as a gesture of goodwill, he wants to temporarily share that luck with Lenny. What’s interesting about this subplot is that we never actually see the painting, so we can only assume what its actual value is. Be that as it may, the painting is very valuable to Uri, which poses a real problem for Lenny when it ends up getting stolen. Not wanting to appear foolish, and hoping to keep hold of his deal with Uri, Lenny urgently orders his men to keep watch over the criminal underworld of London. This includes One Two’s gang, the Wild Bunch. It also includes Lenny’s stepson, Johnny Quid (Toby Kebbel), a rebellious, self-destructive junkie rock star who, for reasons known only to him, repeatedly fakes his own death.

As Lenny’s desperation grows, he threatens to shut down a nightclub owned by Roman (Chris “Ludacris” Bridges) and Mickey (Jeremy Piven), two Americans who frequently showcased Johnny’s band. Roman and Mickey then seek out a man named Cookie (Matt King), a junkie himself before Johnny helped him overcome his addiction (or so he claims). Because of this, Cookie refuses to tell them where Johnny is hiding.

As the film’s writer, Ritchie not only proves that he can give his characters witty, irreverent dialogue, he also proves that he can develop them in ways appropriate to the story. One example is Handsome Bob (Tom Hardy), who comes out of the closet as he sits in the car with his best friend, One Two. In a lesser film, Handsome Bob would be a run-of-the-mill gay stereotype, serving no real purpose other than being everyone’s punch line. Here, he’s a functional, contributing character, and he makes it clear that he doesn’t want to do anything funny with One Two–he just wants to dance with him. Another example is a pair of sadomasochistic Russian bodyguards, who compare scars with the same casual manner of boys comparing baseball cards. They’re virtually indestructible, as One Two discovers when he tries to rob them of their money (another one of Stella’s jobs). What could have been unnecessary distractions are instead entertaining side characters.

As the film’s director, Ritchie takes the time to consider every detail, from camera angles to lighting to speed, all of which add to the quirkiness of the characters. Johnny, for example, is usually filmed in slow motion while engulfed in the murkiness of his drug den. There’s also a wonderful shot in a museum, in which Stella begins walking away from One Two; she starts at a normal pace, but in a moment of adrenaline, the film speeds up, and she zooms out of the shot. How perfect for a character that quickly switches allegiances whenever money is at stake. “RocknRolla” is an absolutely masterful film, wonderfully acted, carefully plotted, and cleverly structured.

Guy Richie has turned out the gem of his career with RockNrolla. Perfect cast (Wilkenson should get an award for this one) incredible sound track, and a wild and wicked plot. Unlike some of his others, this one makes it a bit easier to understand the dialects. It was the delight of my movie going month in October when it came out here in the U.S.

From reading some of the reviews that pan this movie, it is obvious that they are not familiar with Guy Richie’s films, his style and his offbeat humor. It is sort of like licorice; Some people love it some people hate it. But for those of us who have the right mindset for Richie’s style of film, this it the best one to come along in a long time.

Gerard Butler’s turn in this is hysterically funny and is such a great switch from his role in 300. No type casting trap for Gerry. This guy can play the heck out of any role imaginable. But if the Wild Bunch shows up again in the next Richie film, I hope Gerry is included.

I purchased this hammer drill after the death of my Black & Decker 18v Firestorm. Initially, I had considered similar products from Matika and DeWalt, wanting the additional capability of the hammer action, with the smaller bulk of the 14.4v battery. The Porter Cable GTF comes in fairly robust case, complete with a diagnostic charger, stabilizing handle, 2 batteries, driver bit and different size (S,M,L) adjustable hand grip inserts. I found the drill some what hefty, with it’s balance just forward of the hand grip; which is the only reason I did not give it 5 stars.

Power
Offering 420 in-lbs of torque (50 in-lbs more than the Matika and 20 in-lbs more than the Dewalt 14.4v hammer drills) it has plenty of power and will easily snap the head off a 4″ deck screw driven into a railway sleeper. The high/low settings will give you 450-1400rpm, and in hammer action 18500bpm. Battery life was excellent, allowing me to do several hours of deck work before swapping batteries. The charging unit can recharge your dead battery in approx. 1hr, it will also analyze the condition of your battery for optimal performance.

Handling
As mentioned before, I felt this was heavy drill. It does not balance as well as the Dewalt or Matika, which is probably why it feels heavier, though it certainly not unmanageable; much smaller than the enormous 18v Craftsman drill, that thing is a whopper. However, because of it’s forward weight, using the hammer action vertically is really easy. There is also the option of swapping out the hand grip inserts, which helped reduce fatuige on the hands and wrists. Ergonomically speaking, fine. The stabilizer handle screws into either the left or right side of the drill which is a tremendous help when using the hammer action. Either way you are still going to develop your biceps - just make sure you use both hands.

Controls
The forward/reverse button is directly above the trigger control, as per usual. The motor has the high/low switch located on top of the motor housing. It would have been nice to have an extra third gear, like the DeWalt - but not essential. The clutch collar has variable torque setting’s (22) with the drill and hammer action located next to each other. The battery is removed by way of a red button on the bottom flange of the grip. Depressing this button, the battery easily slides off. The battery is securely held in place buy this same locking button.

Chuck
All steel 1/2″ ratcheting chuck lock and spindle lock. The one thing I like over the Dewalt, is the fact the jaws will easily grip a small 1/16″ or 3/32″ drill bit. The DeWalts chuck jaws cannot clamp on small bits such as these, because of the gap where the jaws meet.

Quality/Overall
The drill is well built and solid feeling. Fit and finish are excellent, there are one or two tiny (hair width) gaps where the metal gear housing meets the plastic body, otherwise fine. It feels like it was built twice as strong as in needs to be. I did forget to mention it has two metal clips to store your driver bits. Costing…$…less than the DeWalt or Matika, it’s worth every penny. For home owners just wanting to drive screws and occasional home maintenance, there are much better less costly alternatives. However, if you are looking for a true, solid work horse for frequent heavy usage and occasional defense against bumps-in-the-night, I highly recommend it.

I am a full-time carpenter.

This is a professional quality drill/driver, with metal gears, heavy-duty trigger switch, ratcheting chuck with carbide teeth. It has heft and although some might complain about its weight, anything that generates over 400 in. lbs. of torque and doesn’t fall apart after 40 hrs. of hard use HAS to weigh something, right?

I read an April 2005 review on ‘premium’ vs. ‘homeowner’ grade cordless drills and was interested to see that in nearly every photo of a disemboweled premium drill, said premium drill was the Porter-Cable. It’s built to last.

Here’s what to watch out for:

1) If you charge the batteries, then don’t use them for a few days, your amp hours will be far lower than if you charge the batteries and use them the same day. I don’t get quite as much run time out of the batteries as I would like, but I am doing mean things to my drill, like running a 3/4″ x 16″ masonry bit in hammer/drill mode and leaning into the poor little drill, driving 1/2″ x 12″ lag screws into pressure-treated wood, drilling holes through 20 oz. copper and tin in -5˚ weather….and so on. When used for what I imagine is a more appropriate application, like driving sheetrock screws into sheetrock, the batteries last long enough for me to wonder when they’ll die so I can take five.

2) The HIGH/LOW switch. Works great, but one day I somehow left it in between settings: i.e., in the middle, not on HIGH or LOW, and the drill made a horrendous racket and would not drive anything to save its life. Convinced the drill was completely shot, I began hunting for the case so I could take it back to Home Depot and give them puppy dog eyes. At some point I noticed that the switch was not engaged in either range, flicked it to LOW and all was right with my world again.

3) Despite the all-metal chuck with carbide jaws, things still fall out of it ocassionally. This and the less-than-an-18v battery time warrants fours stars instead of five. Yes, I really crank on the chuck when tightening a bit. For a 14.4 volt drill that I bought new at Home Depot for $100, I’d give it five stars with no caveats. (Home Depot was discontinuing the line and I got lucky).

A few +s you might not know about:

The drill has an automatic brake, so when you take your finger off the switch the chuck comes to a complete stop. The onboard bit storage is not a gimmick and gets constant use (I usually have a #3 Phillips and square drive bits onboard and a #2 Phillips in the chuck, covering 95% of all driving applications). The charger is a diagnostic, ’smart-charger,’ which means it knows to NOT charge when the battery is too cold, too hot, or just plain worn out (haven’t seen that yet). And, unlike cheaper drills, there is more heavy-weight copper in this tool than a jug of pennies.

Note: Treat yourself to a DeWalt, Ryobi, Sears–whatever– quick-release 1/4″ bit chuck. You chuck it in the drill and leave it in. Then, use the drill bits, Phillips drivers, etc. that have the notched speed shank and changing bits is lightning-fast–much faster than ratcheting the drill’s chuck. I have the DeWalt (because it’s bright yellow and I can find it if I drop it, not because it’s a DeWalt) and it’s been great.

That’s about it. This drill has enough torque to sprain your wrist, snap heads off stainless steel deck screws, drive 1.5″ spade bits through mahogany, and push big masonry bits into concrete (although using said bits in hammer mode really drained the power, and fast). It won’t replace my 1/2″ Milwaukee corded drill completely but the Porter Cable is what I reach for 90% of the time. If $ is no object, get the Milwaukee Lok-Tor 18v; it has received top reviews from several trade magazines and will drill more holes on a charge than the Porter-Cable, being 18 volts vs. 14.4. If its chuck is the same as on my corded Milwaukee it holds like a pit bull on a mailman.

UPDATE: I have used the drill a few times and I could not be happier. I like this drill so much that when it came time to by a reciprocating saw I went with a PC (See my other reviews). OK…I have not even used the drill yet but opening reaction is great. I ordered mine off of amazon.com because I couldn’t find a better price, only one hardware store in the Twin Cities area had the drill in stock and wanted $25 more than amazon.com. So saving $25 off of cost, do not have to drive 25 miles to store, do not have to pay tax and get free shipping, only down fall is the 10 day wait.

Case

Case seems sturdy with metal case latches, not cheap molded plastic. Storage for extra bits and manual slot is a definate plus. All batteries, side handle, charger and of course drill fit very well. Problem with the case is the extra “grip to fit” (GTF) plates do not fit in the bit storage compartment.

Ergonomics

My drill came with the large GTF insert, that was changed quickly. I have small hands so the small insert is very nice for myself. GTF is great because a friend of mine with pretty large hands found the large insert to be helpful so this drill is not a one size fits one its a many sizes fits many. Switching from forward to reverse is a snap, a bit clip on either side of the drill along with the side bar that secures tightly to either side too. Balance is a little forward moving but that is good for drilling and with the hammer drill option what do you really expect. The battery removal is not as easy for this drill compared to many other brands. The battery slides horizontally into position with a smaller release button. This is good for the fact if you do hit the release button the battery will not fall directly to the floor and you will have a chance to catch it as it slides back.

Construction

Seems sturdy, chuck is well constructed. Not made of cheap metal and plastic. Compared to other brands on the same caliber like bosch the PC seems like a tank, not weight but construction. Feels more solid.

Rep

Reputation of great PC tools for about 100 years. I almost purchased the Bosch 14.4 but my brother-in-law owns a 12v PC and loves it, swears by it so I went wih PC. Also, Bosch 14.4 doesn’t have Hammer drill option or sidebar, you would have to go up to the 18v tank and shell out more money.

Power

I have wrenched on a couple bolts to much and snapped the head clear off. I recently have been building a deck and my drill has performed great. I feel the battery holds up pretty well.

I was originally looking at a Bose speaker setup, but I couldn’t bring myself to spend $1000 on speakers. Not knocking Bose, but I thought Polk Audio has always put out a good product, so I though I’d give them a try, and I’ve been very pleased.

I bought them on sale at Tweeter for $599 around Christmas, and I could not be happier with them. Part of the deal was also the PSW11 sub which has more than enough punch for my system.

I have them set up for a home theater system in my basement and they sound phenomenal, but placement is critical to getting the most sound out of these speakers (actually, any speakers) due to the fact that they have dual drivers. All this means is they have a mid-range and tweeter on two of the three sides of the speaker (they are triangular in shape if looking from the top-down). They are designed to create a sound field by bouncing sound off of the walls in your room.

It is very important to experiment with placement of these speakers to get the best sound from them. Each room is different in relation to your listening area, so try a couple of different spots before affixing them to the wall (decent wall brackets are included).

Music sounds great, too. I don’t usually blast music, but frequency response and clarity are both excellent. They are small enough to fit quite nicely any room without drawing attention to themselves like some other larger bookshelf speakers commonly used in home theater setups.

No matter what you buy, though, just remember that if you are considering buying $600 worth of speakers, make sure you don’t waste your money by going with cheap speaker cable. I used all Monster cables (16 gauge), and terminated everything with Monster speaker terminals, and they sound really good.

Hope this helps.

Before this set of 5 small easily wall mounted speakers I had a Bose acoustimass 10 system. I was not happy with it at all but decided not to deal with a return. I kept the system for a few years now. Since the introduction of Blu Ray and 7.1 audio I figured now is as good a time as any to upgrade.

The 1st brand that came to mind was Polk. I have had Polk products in my car for over 10 years and I have never had any problems with any of their products. The sound was always impressive and almost everyone who got in my car complimented me on them without knowing what brand I had installed.

Since I previously had Bose I grew attached to the idea of small speakers. These fit the criteria of brand and size I was looking for. The RM95 set includes 5 of Polk’s RM8 speakers which include 1 - 3/4″ Diameter tweeter and 2 - 2-1/2″ Diameter mid range speakers which is a slight upgrade to the RM85 set.

These speakers have a great sound that blend just right. I have heard things on CD i never heard before using my old Bose unit. I bought 2 Monitor 70s for the fronts got a free PSW10 10-inch Powered Subwoofer to create a 7.1 system that didn’t break the bank at Amazons prices.

Only downfall was the speaker connections are quite small so using the Monster cables that were recommended by Polk needed to be customized to fit. I got the bigger THX certified cables I am sure if you go with the regular speaker cables from monster or a cheaper brand they will fit no problem.

As for looks 1 side is a shiny black while 2 sides have a soft almost foam look grill that give the room a clean look. This set is pleasing to the eye and the ears as well as the wallet.

I’ll keep this one short. These speakers sound great with music or movies. They never sound pushed, harsh or compressed. Clear and sweet.

I moved from a much larger place and had to transition from huge floor standing 7.1 Klipsch speakers along with a monster Onkyo receiver to a smaller sat/sub setup and a far less involved receiver.

I was at Frys and they had these new in the box red tagged for $189! Since I didn’t really care what I wanted and just had a budget to stick to I went for it. Had no idea how they sounded or what they were. I just knew it allowed me to spend more on the receiver.

Well when I got home my expectations were low. New smaller apartment, former system of mighty glory no more. I connect them up, fire up Transformers on Bluray and crap my pants. Stunning.

End of review.

The component to my EPSON AcuLaser multifunction machine works flawlessly and is easy to install. I pulled out the old filled in the new and I am off to the races. Unit was shipped UPS Ground and came in (I believe 3 days), sooner than expected.

Good stuff.

Good product. Just over priced in Canada. Resorted to buying the same in USA. Unfortunately could not ship direct to Canada by Amazon.com. Had to ship to friend in Jersey and then re-direct to Canada. Very troublesome.

I ordered it for an over night delivery, got it two days late. I sent it back since I paid for overnight. Was not happy with the delivery time frame.

This Sekonic L-358 light meter is an excellent meter. I have fallen in love with it. Lots of Today’s 35mm SLR camera meters are TTL Meters (reflected light measurement meters). Sekonic L-358 is such a high precision instrument which measures incident, reflected, flash (cord & cordless). I got great digital photos after I have used the reading on 2 different cameras under normal & Flash lights.

The pictures are great out of your camera and do not require any editing if used properly according to the instructions. I like the built in Memory function to store readings, Shutter Priority, Aperture Priority, 2 ISO functions, Weather proof Seal, Can include optional radio transmitter + receiver modules to wirelessly trigger flash units, So far Battery Life has been Good. This meter does not use “AA” it uses CR-123A so you will have to always carry one spare with you.

I purchased this light meter when I got a chance to use a film medium format camera for awhile. It has every feature that I could like and was so good at exposure measurements that I started using it on my Canon 30D digital when the time for the shot permitted.

At first when I purchased it I thought it was so ‘old school’ to have a lightmeter, but I knew I was going to have it to use the medium format film camera I had and I wanted to go with strobes eventually so I was going to need it as well for the best results. I was quite surprised to find out how much of a difference it makes on digital and it pointed out how even a good digital camera can only do so good of an exposure prediction because of color and reflection assumptions it has to make.

If you’ve got to get exposure right on, then get a good light meter. The L-358 is a great light meter for the money.

I bought this meter because I bought a manual focus lens for my Nikon D50. This camera body does not meter with the old manual lenses. After a week of using it, I can say it performs well. It offers incident and reflected measurements. However, to switch from incident to reflected, you have to take off the lumisphere and mount the lumigrid. It offers shutter and aperture priority modes. I prefer aperture priority-choose an aperture, and the meter selects a shutter speed. You can choose 2 ISO settings. The meter will stay on ISO 1 until you push ISO 2 for a brief reading. When you let go of the ISO 2 button, it goes back to ISO 1.

The Sekonic L-358 also does flash metering(reflected and incident). This is helpful to me because my D50 will not do TTL flash with my older flash units-Nikon SB-80DX. It has flash corded mode-connect flash and meter with sync cord. It also has cordless flash mode. When you press the measurement button, you will have up to 90 seconds to fire the flash. It will even measure multiple flash bursts. However, it will not read them all if the bursts are too quick. I’d recommend leaving at least 1/2 second between bursts to take a reading. There’s also flash to ambient light ratio readings.

Another reason I chose this model is you can buy optional spot meter attachments for it-1, 5, and 10 degree heads.

It also has many features I’ve never used and probably never will, so I can’t comment on those. Such as wireless radio flash triggering(I think optional accessories are required), memories, averaging of multiple readings, and more.

Something that you should consider-not all lenses transmit the EXACT same amount of light. In theory they should, but that’s not always the case. For example, one of my lenses needs about 1/3-1/2 stop more light than the meter suggests. Another needs about 2/3-1 stop more. And another lens just about agrees with the Sekonic. I think older zooms are more prone to needing more light. If you’re getting underexposed images, run tests and take notes with each lens you plan on using with the meter.

And another thing-it uses a CR123A battery. Those can be hard to find, so carry an extra.
