I have never saw a cartoon/Book brought so wonderfully to life, as this one that Ron Howard directed.

The thing I love most though, is the way they did the town, with all the shops, post office, etc. MILLIONS of dollars went into this, and such DETAIL on EVERYTHING!!!

It is just wonderful to watch! The DVD has TONS of extras on it too.Games, songs, etc, for the TV AND PC.

The movie is a couple hours long, but what movie isn’t ? Actually, it is one hour and forty five minutes long.

The story is neither original nor complicated. At their wedding, Simon Pegg’s character gets cold feet and takes off without explanation, leaving his pregnant girlfriend behind. 5 years down the line he, now a fat, pathtic looser without the mone to pay the rent, realises that he actually left the love of his life behind that day. She has found a rich, handsome, athletic American played very well by Hank Azaria, and has no need for her former fiance. So to win her back, Pegg must compete against his American competitor in a marathon race. Chaos and hilarity ensues.

Simon Pegg, who is nothing short of a comic genius, plays the gormless loser so joyously well, and adds to it his incredible sense of physical comedy. His American rival is in turn played expertly by Mr. Azaria, who somehow manages to portray a character that at the same time is absolutely charming, wonderful, and thoroughly unlikeable. The always funny Dylan Moran adds his own interesting personae to the character Gordon, the best friend of Peggs character. Also a guest visit from Little Britains David Walliams, makes for a nice little surprise.

I’m not the biggest fan of director David Schwimmer, but I must admit that he’s done a decent job with this one. The score, scenery, production, and all the rest of it is also done quite well.

So in conclusion I’ll say, that while “Run Fat Boy Run” is not in any way original or spellbinding, it does provide some solid laughs and is never boring. Definitely recommendable.

this movie was bittersweet and a laugh. to top it off, pegg’s character’s uphill battle with his commitmentphobe underachiever status is something to behold. as is his eye-catching facial expressions.

my firsthand experience with all the down-sides to running (and hiking) long distances may have swayed me to be biased in liking it. oh well, the fight scence between denny and his best friend was a laugh.

I love Matthew McConaughey in pretty much everything he’s ever been in. He’s a good actor, but I really didn’t buy him as a charmer in this movie. I really couldn’t see why the women were falling for him. He wasn’t even slightly charming or likable. He was just a jerk. It made me feel like the writers of this movie thought all women were just idiots ready to fall into bed with anyone.

Jennifer Garner is another of my faves in other movies. She wasn’t bad in this one, but it wasn’t enough to save the movie.

One thing I did like about this movie was Lacey Chabert. She was very believable as the nervous bride to be. She was freaking out about every detail as many brides do and was a wreck. She gave us some comedic moments and was cute as a button.

I’m glad I only rented this movie from Netflix, so I’m only out an hour adn 40 minutes of my life rather than $20. If you really feel the need to see this movie, rent it before buying it.

Just saw this one in the theater and it was a great flick with a lot of laughs. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

In a take-off of the Charles Dickens’ Christmas Carol, the ghosts of past girlfriends and other voluntary spirits, attempt to help a cold-hearted womanizer bring back the sensitivity and love in his life.

We begin the plot with the much sought-after bachelor ladies’ man, in-demand schmoozer, professional photographer Conner (McConahey). He loves all the ladies, every one he can get into, so to speak. As we watch love ‘em and leave ‘em Conner break the ladies’ hearts, we begin to think of him as a loveable schmuck. Even though we want to slap him, there is something about him. We follow him to his brother’s wedding at the country home he grew up, in a castle-sized estate. We find out that his parents died young, leaving 7 year old Conner to help raise his 2 year old brother. Both were raised by Uncle Wayne (Michael Douglas) at the mansion.

Young Conner grew up with young Jennie (Jennifer Garner). They seemed to be best friends but fell short on the boyfriend/girlfriend end of the stick when they got into their teens. Conner seemed afraid of being hurt and, under the expert tutilage of Uncle Wayne, turned into a ladies man.

Showing up at the wedding and voicing his extreme cynicism about love and marriage, Conner offends everyone. He is soon visited by the now deceased Uncle Wayne who tells him to mend his evil ways. To help Conner out, Wayne warns him of upcoming visits from 3 spirits, just like Jacob Marley and Ebineezer Scrooge.

And so it begins. As I said, it is often laugh-out-loud funny, coupled with sincerety and love. There were times I found a tear or two in my eyes. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and would certainly want to see it again. It’s a feel-good movie and enjoyable to watch the sincerity and love return to this man’s life.

To get it out of the way first, I thoroughly enjoyed this movie–I am huge fan of the Rurouni Kenshin series, and the movie, while not quite as good as the series’ best parts, succeeded in giving me more of the same stuff I love so much (as long as you don’t watch the horrific English dub–even compared to the series’ English dub it’s horrible).

Now on to the important part–the confusion that has been steeped upon this release. Here’s what everyone should know, but seems to ignore (at least in reviews): “Samurai X” is the American title used to replace the Japanese title, “Rurouni Kenshin,” when this movie and the OVA’s were released by ADV. The original series (it came first, only after the comic) is being released under its original title by Anime Works. The Kenshin OVA’s (under the American titles “Samurai X: Trust” and “Samurai X: Betrayal”) were made later as a prequel to the series, chronicling the early days of Battousai the Manslayer/Hitokiri. By the time the series begins, 10 years later, the main character Kenshin has given up his past role of Battousai in order to somehow make up for his evils, so he lives as a wandering swordsman (note: not a samurai by any means, ever!) who refuses to kill. The Rurouni Kenshin movie takes place around the time of the series–as in, the same supporting cast appears, and Kenshin is currently a wanderer. Not only does the movie’s story occur within the context of the series, but stylistically it fits as well.

Comparing the RK movie to the OVA series, in terms of story or style, is useless. They are two completely different works based on the same series, one made to portray the dark and violent aspects of Kenshin’s early life, and the other meant to act as a direct companion to the material in the series. One reviewer relates the series and OVA’s as being two seperate universes, and the movie an amalgamation of the two. Well, that is just flat-out wrong. All three works have been created along a timeline in terms of story, and in the case of style, have been created to reflect the period of Kenshin’s that is being chronicled. The only reason the name “Samurai X” was given to the OVA’s and movie was to make them look “cooler” for an American audience by Sony & ADV after they acquired the rights. The American name says nothing about the contents.

The timing of this film is after the ‘Samurai X’ OVA’s. The year is 1879, sometime during the progress of the ‘Rurouni Kenshin’ television series. The bloody overthrow of the Tokugawa Shogunate has been followed by the Meiji restoration, but all is not well. Samurai led by Takimi Shigure regret the passing of the old days and plan to start a counter-revolution. Himura Kenshin, one of the samurai who fought to overthrow the Shogunate, finds himself forced by destiny to oppose Shigure. In the past, a mistake by Shigure left his closest friend, Takatsuki Gentatsu without sufficient resources for a raid. Unknown to Shigure, Kenshin is the samurai who killed Gentatsu. Both men were deeply affected by this, at the restoration of the Meiji, Shigure was sworn to vengeance. And Kenshin had his sword blade reversed, determined never to kill with his sword again.

Now, in Yokohama, Shigure plots the death of the British Governor. When Kenshin helps protect Takatsuki Toki (Gentatsu’s sister) Shigure befriends Kenshin and eventually asks him to take care of Toki if something should happen to him. In the meantime, forces in the government intend to use Shigure as a means for achieving their own ends, creating a multi-layered scenario of betrayals that will culminate in the final battle between the two honorable opponents.

Despite (or perhaps because of) the highly romanticized depiction of samurai behavior and swordmanship, this becomes a dramatically engaging story instead of a simple tale of blood and swashbuckling. Kenshin’s youthful appearance and the antics of his friends keep the film from being overwhelmingly tragic. Thus it is a well-balanced plot with many subtexts to add to its richness.

Artistically, the film is first-class. The battle scenes are cleanly detailed, and the choreography of the sword fights is beautifully done, if a bit fantastical. The scenes have a fluid grace that will cause the viewer to stop action often, just to admire the illustration. This film, and the related tales of Rurouni Kenshin set a new standard for Samurai based anime, that is rarely equaled. Watching the OVA series before seeing the movie version will provide the viewer with useful background information, but the film stands quite well on its own, making it a fitting introduction to this popular and long-running series.

Blax Films is a totally illegitimate bootlegging operation and their product is ‘mastered’ from inferior VHS tapes of films to which they have no legal rights to (for example, “Drum” is currently in the MGM library). Thus the bottom-of-the-barrel picture quality of their discs. Note, too, their laughably bad screen capture cover art. Puh-leaze! Could you be any more lame? Amazon should be ashamed for even carrying garbage like this, and the legitimate rights owners for the movies that Blax Films rips off should sic their lawyers on them, hunt them down and sue them into the poorhouse!

I enjoyed this film to an extent. Now, the only reason why I bought this disc was because my girl Pam Grier was in it. However, its not “Roots” but it’s actually decent flick. Although Warren Oates receives top billing, you may wonder where he is for the first half hour, as most of this is taken up with Drum’s unpleasant encounters with DeMarigny (Colicos way over the top and in possession of an offensive accent). When Drum wins the fight with Blaise he is awarded his own woman, but he shouldn’t get too comfortable because the aggressively homosexual DeMarigny has designs on him, and when spurned vows revenge. This means Drum, appropriately played by wooden boxer Norton as if he’d much rather be somewhere else, has to be relocated by Marianna to work for Oates’ plantation owner Hammond Maxwell, especially after Rachel has been murdered by the Frenchman.

The highlight of the movie is the dialogue of Warren Oates who plays the Ignorant Country Hick Plantation Owner. He is hilarious and would say things like “I found you in a Ho house and you aint even a Hoe”. One thing about the film is that at least you couldn’t say it was exploiting the African Americans in the cast, who are portrayed as sympathetic in the main - a pity you couldn’t say the same for the women in the cast, who are treated as if the best they can offer the story is to take their clothes off. Over half the actresses disrobe for the camera, which exposes the true intentions of the filmmakers, and the most thankless role goes to Cheryl Rainbeaux Smith, as the daughter of Maxwell who is determined to get one of the slaves into bed. But even Fiona Lewis, as the prospective next Mrs Maxwell, has a gratuitous bath scene and of course the naked view of Pam Grier in her master’s bedroom.

So basically, if you’re looking for an examination of the last years of the slave trade in America, you will be disappointed, but if you’re after sexploitation, then that’s what Drum is really all about.

Assembling the blower was very easy and it starts right up!! The blower is very light and quiet!!!It’s nice not to have to worry about mixing the gas and oil! It only blows 145 MPH and it cleaned my driveway and garage. It would have been nicer if the blower was 200 MPH for the amount that you are spending–bigger better. My other complaint is that they don’t give you a flat nozzle and you have to buy it extra as an accessory. Also, make sure you buy oil(a bottle is NOT included in the manufactor’s box) for the blower because they only added little for you to get started.

I have had this same blower for over a year now. I found that three companies sell this blower: Makita (blue), John Deere (yellow) and Dolmar (red) …. I have the Dolmar. The specs where just a little different (weight and air speed) for the Dolmar and the price was right (around $175 if I remember correctly). This is a very good machine with plenty of power and is easily started. The on/off switch on the top of the handle is positioned in such a way that I often turn it off during use when I don’t intend to. I am also conscience of it being a 4-stroke engine and am careful of the position I run it in. With a crankcase filled with oil, I don’t hold it upside down or at an odd angle that will allow the crank to run out of the oil …. this mindset is different than that used when running a 2-stroke blower.

I’ve owned this blower for a couple of months now. I purchased it as a replacement for my old electric blower. It has plenty of power for my suburban needs. It’s also quiet and runs on regular gas (no mixing gas and oil like a 2 stroke). All of these attributes are great, but the really great thing is that it starts reliably after 1 or 2 pulls just like my trusty Honda mower. Compared to the 2 strokes that I have dealt with the Robin 4 stroke in this blower is a real pleasure to work with. I would easily pay $50 extra to have the 4 stroke in this Makita. I wish their 4 stroke string trimmer was a bit cheaper. I would trade up and ditch my old Echo 2 stroke in a heartbeat if it were close to the price of this blower.

My Seashell arrived Friday. The first hour or two I was unsure as my primary PC (work) is a Lenovo T400. This was so small.

After spending time getting used to the size and organizing the features to my preferences - I fell in love. It is exactly what I had hoped it would be. It’s perfect for surfing the net, reading news online, watching videos. It’s light and easy to use.

The storage will be large enough for my iTunes and to run the Office Suite. The 2 GB RAM is a nice upgrade compared to most other netbooks with just 1 GB. I think it’s going to be great for travel and just to have around the house for everyday internet needs.
